On Anti-Oedipus: Schizo-politics for Scallies Part 0.0001

In the aftermath of the Poll Tax rebellion some people may recall how the sense of challenge and resistance to the powers that be went through a
lull period during the mid-90s. This appeared to have its roots in the demise of the workers movement which gave rise to seeking means of renewal in the writings of both French and Italian writers. A sense of ‘disenchantment’ was rife and was theorised by the likes of Paolo Virno. For me the key zone of investigation became what could be termed Marxist-Freudianism and
an ongoing engagement with Deleuze & Guattari’s Anti-Oedipus was pivotal. What follows, written many moons ago, was an attempt to present their ideas
as a means of drawing up a balance sheet and overcoming that fatalist nostalgia that took hold in our own ‘winter years’ of the mid 90s.
