Operation Spanner

The Spanner case started in 1987 when the Manchester police, through their large scale “Operation Spanner”, seized a number of videos of sado-masochistic activities involving a large group of gay men, and became a landmark case in the 1990s where consensual sadomasochistic activities were criminalised.
